LightLab Artist: Diana Birkett
Diana submitted two beautiful ideas for projections, inspired by local patterns and architecture. Nouveau Spirit was chosen for the exhibition, illustrated in the image.
“I am keen to find new outlets and mediums for my work, and I find light images very inspiring. I have mostly worked in oils and watercolour previously, and have had designs reproduced on ceramics, textiles, cards, placemats and many other surfaces, but have never worked with light. As an artist I believe exploring new ways of working is very important in order to reinvent yourself and your work, and this is especially pertinent at the moment when our lives are being restricted in many ways.
Fine art has always been at the root of what I do, and recently I have been exploring my love of nature and landscape with oil paint, which I find very expressive as a medium and painting itself can be a spiritual means of expression.”
